Kukkiwon Policy & Applications
UPDATE - February 23, 2010: For Candidates and Masters interested in applying for “Skip A Dan”: Make sure the time requirements have been met between each level up to the level being requested. The applications will be returned if the time requirement has not been met. There are no exceptions for minimum time. There is no skipping from 4th Dan to 6th Dan.
UPDATE - November 9, 2009: For applicants who are not Canadian Citizens, please include a photocopy of a permanent residency card and drivers licence (if applicable) as a proof of residency in Canada. Applications will not be accepted without proof of residency.
UPDATE - As of October 26, 2009, those with a 4th Dan can submit Kukkiwon applications to Taekwondo Canada for processing. This change was passed at the Board of Directors meeting held in Toronto, ON on October 26, 2009. All Kukkiwon applications submitted will be subject to the new Taekwondo Canada Martial Arts Policy. Please submit applications to the attention of Michelle Makitra Robb at the office.
NEW Administrative Process for Kukkiwon Applications
1. Apply to Taekwondo Canada using the
application form - applicant should be
encouraged to use a tracking system
(courier/Express Post, etc.) when sending
applications to Taekwondo Canada and email
Taekwondo Canada of applications being sent.
For applicants who are not Canadian
Citizens, please include a photocopy of a
permanent residency card and drivers licence (if
applicable) as a proof of residency in Canada.
Applications will not be accepted without proof
of residency.
2. Once Kukkiwon applications are received by
TKD Canada it will be date stamped - within 3
business days the applicant and their Master
will be emailed to confirm the following:
a. application has been received
b. application is complete or incomplete
c. completed application to be sent (with date
of submission) via email to Kukkiwon
NOTE: If application is incomplete then the
member and their Master will be notified as to
what is required, via email, and that it cannot
be processed until all required information is
received.
d. Once missing information is received the
applicant and Master will be emailed confirming
same and completed application will be date
stamped complete and sent to Kukkiwon via email;
applicant and Master will be notified of same.
NOTE: All completed applications will be
submitted to Kukkiwon by TKD Canada within 3
business days of receipt of same from the
applicant.
e. Applicant and Master will be emailed
confirming that the application has been
submitted to Kukkiwon.
f. Once TKD Canada receives the certificate from
Kukkiwon, it will be date stamped, updated on
the website database and mailed to applicant or
Master within 2 business days.
g. TKD Canada will email the applicant and
Master confirming the documents have been mailed
to them.
